INTRODUCING: BUBR DIASPORA

For four years, BUBR Africa has taken riders to the continent — to Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa and Senegal. Now we're going further.

BUBR Diaspora is a new series of cycling tours exploring the places where the African story continued. The countries, cultures and communities shaped by the diaspora experience — where roots run deep and the connection to Africa never left.

Diaspora asks a different question.

What about the places where the African story didn't stay on the continent? Where it was carried — by force, by survival, by resilience — and took root somewhere new? Where it became something that looks different but runs just as deep?

Jamaica is one of those places. The music, the food, the culture, the spirit — none of it exists without the African story behind it. BUBR Diaspora is about riding through that story. Connecting with it the same way we've always connected with everything — on the bike, in community, with intention.

Same ride. Different chapter. Deeper roots.

BOOK NOW

You've probably been to Jamaica.

Maybe to visit family, maybe for a week in the sun. Either way, you haven't seen it like this — from the saddle, at road level, through the places that don't make it into the brochures.

But it's about more than how it looks. This is a place that has given the world its music, its food, its attitude, its spirit — and cycling through it puts you right in the middle of all of that. You're not passing through as a tourist. You're moving through a living culture, at the pace it deserves.

The riding reflects the island itself — demanding in places, breathtaking throughout. Coastal roads, mountain climbs, villages where people come out to cheer you on because that's just who they are here. Jamaica gets into you in a way that's hard to explain until you've experienced it. And once you have, you'll understand why we had to come here first.

01 RIDE

Riding in Jamaica is unlike anywhere else. The heat is real, the climbs are serious, and at some point you'll come through a village with music already playing before you arrive.

Because everything is taken care of — mechanics, road marshals, support vehicles, nutrition on the road — all you have to do is ride. And when all you have to do is ride, you notice the people around you. The rider who waited at the top of the climb. The conversations at the feed stop. The pace group that pushes you further than you'd have gone alone. Ask anyone who's done a BUBR tour what they remember most and it's rarely the route. It's the people.

02 EXPLORE

Every rest day is an invitation to go deeper. Jerk cooked over pimento wood, rum from the source, towns with stories that go back centuries. Kingston's art scene and its murals, the Blue Mountains cutting through the interior, the parishes that shaped reggae and dancehall and a cultural export that reached every corner of the world. Port Antonio before it was discovered. Ocho Rios beyond the cruise ship stops.

Jamaica has been a destination for decades, which means most visitors follow the same well-worn path. This trip doesn't. There's a version of this island that takes a little more effort to find — and that's exactly where we're going.

03 STAY

Three hotels across three parts of the island — Kingston, Port Antonio, and Ocho Rios. Each one chosen to put you in the heart of where you're riding, not removed from it. These aren't resort properties on a strip somewhere. They're in the communities, close to the culture, and selected with local knowledge from our Jamaica partners.

Nights on this trip have their own rhythm. The kind of evenings where the group comes together over food, the day gets talked through, and you start looking forward to what's coming tomorrow. After a long day in the saddle, you'll have comfortable rooms, good food, and the kind of rest that actually sets you up for the next morning.

The accommodation isn't the headline of this trip — Jamaica is. But you'll sleep well.

04 SUPPORT

Cycling has the power to change lives — we've seen that firsthand across every international tour. From the bikes we've put in the hands of schoolgirls in Senegal to the communities we've ridden through across the continent, giving back has always been part of what a BUBR international tour means.

BUBR Diaspora: Jamaica will partner with a grassroots cycling organisation rooted in the local community. Every rider who joins this tour is contributing to something bigger than the ride itself. We're finalising that partnership now and will share details soon — but community impact is built into this trip from day one.

ITINERARY

Our itinerary, crafted by the BUBR team and local partners, showcases the best of Jamaica. Please note, the itinerary is subject to change.

01/10

THU – 11TH MARCH

Tour Day 1: Arrival in Kingston

Welcome to Jamaica. Touch down in Kingston you'll be transferred straight to Liguanea Club, where you will stay for 4 nights.

Tonight's welcome cocktail is the first chance to put faces to the names you've been riding alongside in the group chat for months.

FRI – 12TH MARCH

Tour Day 2: Discover Kingston

After breakfast, the full trip briefing covers the route, the support structure, and what the week ahead looks like.

Bike building follows, getting your machine road ready.

The rest of the day is yours: Liguanea Club has eight tennis courts and six squash courts if you fancy a game, Devon House and the Bob Marley Museum are both a short drive away if you'd rather get out and explore, or just rest up before tomorrow's flat shakeout spin down to Port Royal.

SAT – 13TH MARCH

Tour Day 3: Kingston to Port Royal

Out of Kingston along the Palisadoes, the narrow strip of road with the harbour on one side and the open sea on the other, running past Norman Manley International on the way down to Port Royal. Flat and fast, with Fort Charles and the old sunken pirate city worth the stop at the far end.

Ride Distance: 54km / 34mi

Elevation Gain: 178m / 584ft

SUN – 14TH MARCH

Tour Day 4: Kingston to Newcastle

The climb into the Blue Mountains, Jamaica's highest range and home to the coffee that carries its name.

From Liguanea Club, the road climbs straight out of Kingston through Papine and Irish Town, switchbacking up through Redlight to Newcastle, the old British army station tucked into the hills. Most of today's climbing comes in the second half, with the views back over Kingston and the harbour opening up the higher you get.

WED – 17TH MARCH

Tour Day 7: Port Antonio to Ocho Rios

Bags packed again, last hotel move of the week. West out of Port Antonio along the coast through Buff Bay and Annotto Bay, then on past Port Maria, the old banana port still home to Noel Coward's Firefly estate, and through Oracabessa before the road runs into Ocho Rios and Sago Palm, base for the rest of the trip.

JAMAICA COUNTDOWN

ACCOMODATION

These are comfortable, well-run hotels — not five-star resorts. The premium on this trip isn't in the thread count, it's in the destination.

Please note, accommodation may be subject to change following the BUBR team reconnaissance trip in October 2026.

01/

Liguanea Club

The Liguanea Club is a Kingston institution — a members' club in the heart of New Kingston, with a pool, tennis and squash courts, and a gym. It's been part of the city's social fabric for generations, and it's where your trip starts.

Jamaica Palace

In Port Antonio, you'll stay at Jamaica Palace — white columns, a pool shaped like the island, rooms full of original artwork. It's an unusual building with a strong sense of its own style.

Sago Palm

In Ocho Rios, you'll stay at Sago Palm — a small boutique hotel right in the centre of town, walking distance from Ocho Rios Bay Beach and the craft market. Pool, spa, on-site restaurant, the kind of place where the staff remember your name by day two.

“The BUBR trip to Ghana was a once in a lifetime experience. I not only made friends for life, but I also learned so much about Ghana and the history of Africa. The local teams accompanying us kept us safe and the charities we raised money for continue to feedback about how our contributions make a difference. I look forward to my next trip with BUBR!”

Mona (London) – BUBR Rwanda 2024

“A culmination of sweaty but sweet ups and downs (Land of a Thousand Hills).
The highlight of the trip was the camaraderie we experienced whilst cycling the most grueling hills. There was something about knowing no man or woman would be left behind, we were all in this together, yet everybody came with their own goals, dreams and aspirations which were faced on those hills with breathtaking scenery which provided a nourishing balm for the soul."

Adisa (London) - BUBR South Africa 2025

"BUBR South Africa 2025 was so much more than a cycling holiday.

What made it special apart from the fantastic roads, mind boggling scenery, gorgeous food and luxurious hotels was the sense of community.  BUBR created a safe space on and off the bike for each member to feel valued and seen. My learning experience was heightened due to the comrade of the group spirit. We had a ball."

“BUBR is a wonderful community of positive people with exceptional leadership and organisational skills, we’ve been able to come together as a family to see the beauty Africa has to offer whilst making a difference not just to the less fortunate, but ourselves individually. Dipo (London) - BUBR South Africa 2025

"It never fails to amaze me how BUBR continues to set the bar higher with each location and Cape Town was no exception. BUBR creates a type of connectivity I have never experienced in other spaces. From being able to build with the NGO’s and community on the ground which funds are raised for to the new friends made riding in beautiful new terrains. BUBR is a special precious experience for all involved"

“I signed up to BUBR Rwanda with a sense of adventure and without much idea of what to expect. I love what the organisation stands for and wanted to show solidarity. It was one of the most thrilling and satisfying experiences of my life. Beautiful country, fantastic support and a group of new friends who pulled through the tough cycling challenges (and those endless hills!) together as a team. I can’t recommend it enough and am already looking forward to the next one.”

Justin (London) - BUBR Rwanda 2024

"Participating in the Black Unity Bike Ride was my first time in Africa and my first charity work experience. As a novice cyclist, I rode over 400km through Rwanda's hills in a nine-day tour. The ride was about unity, challenge, giving back, and embracing Rwanda's heritage. BUBR promotes wellness and empowerment, and this transformative journey left me eager to join future BUBR events, blending physical challenge with cultural exploration and community building."

Soraya (Amsterdam) – BUBR Rwanda 2024

"BUBR combine a vision of cycle tours on the African continent, whilst partnering with and fundraising for local cycling communities  to make an impactful difference. I’ve been so blessed to have met some truly wonderful and inspiring Rwandans and others from the international BUBR community, whilst taking on the challenge of riding some of the 1000 hills of Rwanda This I was told was BUBR chapter 2. I cannot wait for BUBR chapter 3!"
